Grating Openings Around Pipe Branches
Oct 27, 2026| A pipe branch passing through an access platform creates a local break in the grating layout. The panel drawing must show the complete opening, its position relative to the supports and the edge that remains available for walking. Outside panel dimensions alone do not describe this arrangement.
Where a Pipe Tee sits close to the deck, mark the branch direction and the space occupied by the fitting on the layout. That information helps the grating fabricator identify which panel needs a cut-out and which surrounding edges require finishing before the panel reaches the installation area.
The bearing bars still need a defined support arrangement around the interruption. Record their direction and show the panel breaks on the same drawing. If part of the deck must be removed for maintenance, identify that section and its fixing method so the opening can be coordinated with the surrounding equipment.
A Pipe Tee does not determine the grating specification by itself. The walking route, support positions and access requirements remain part of the panel design. Richen can use the agreed layout to coordinate panel outlines, openings and edge bands. Numbering each panel against the drawing also helps the installation team place the correct section around the branch, reducing interpretation between fabrication, packing and assembly at the platform. The opening then follows the accepted layout.
