A stainless steel grating is a metal open-grid panel made from stainless bearing bars and cross bars. It allows water, air and light to pass through, while still giving workers a firm walking or covering surface. It is often used around drains, machine bases, washing rooms, chemical handling areas, food processing lines and outdoor sites where ordinary carbon steel may rust too quickly. Compared with coated carbon steel, stainless material costs more at the beginning, but it can reduce repainting and repair work in wet or mildly corrosive places. For visible areas, surface cleaning can also be considered so the panel looks neat after installation instead of only being strong enough to stand on.
